PM Surya Ghar Yojana Crosses 26 Lakh Rooftop Installations Nationwide

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has reached a major milestone, with more than 26 lakh rooftop solar systems now installed across Indian households, according to the latest government update. The scheme, launched to help families cut their electricity bills while contributing to India’s clean energy goals, has been backed by a central financial assistance outlay of ₹17,967 crore.

Under the scheme, households installing rooftop solar systems of up to 3 kW can receive a subsidy of up to ₹78,000, with 1-2 kW systems eligible for ₹30,000-₹60,000 in support depending on capacity. The subsidy is credited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account after installation and inspection, removing much of the paperwork friction that earlier rooftop schemes struggled with.
